Flying Cars on the Horizon: Are We Ready for Takeoff
Recently, various low-altitude flying vehicles have captured the public’s imagination, gaining visibility at three major exhibitions held in China this month. These events highlight the rapid advancements in this field, sparking curiosity and excitement about the future of flying cars. The 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai, held from November 5 to 10, introduced a dedicated area for “Future Low-Altitude Mobility.” The Zhuhai Airshow 2024, from November 12 to 17, debuted a Low-Altitude Economy Hall, featuring manned and unmanned aerial vehicles for aviation transport, emergency rescue, meteorological services, and more. And on November 15, the first day of the 2024 Guangzhou Auto Show (running from November 15 to 24), a modular flying car took center stage, performing a real, manned flight.
Flying Cars: A New Frontier for Companies
The term “flying car” aptly describes a vehicle that can travel on land and in the air, a low-altitude craft combining the best of both worlds. At the Guangzhou Auto Show, one of the Motors unveiled their latest flying car model, known as the "Land Carrier," marking a global milestone with the first publicly demonstrated manned flight. During this event, the company’s founder piloted the flight, showcasing the car’s modular structure, where the airborne section seamlessly detached from the land vehicle.
